If you use your phone, PC, or laptop for long hours at work, you may have searched for solutions to reduce eye strain.

For some people, f.lux works well. I have installed it on both my desktop and laptop. If I can't get it on a new device, I can immediately feel what's missing.

I bought Gunnar spectacles from Amazon India. The package arrived covered in dust but was otherwise well packed (Amazon generally does a great job with packaging). I didn't have any problem with the packaging itself since the product was safe inside.

After a few days, I noticed small spots appearing on the lenses. I reported the issue on their Facebook page. Shortly after my review, they disabled their ratings section. It was clear that the 39-star rating they had was paid for — this company was buying fake Facebook reviews.

I emailed them but received no reply. I contacted them on Facebook — no reply. I tweeted at them — still nothing in my inbox.

  1. If you look closely at the reviewers, you will find that many of them received a free pair of Gunnars in exchange for their review. Gunnar provides free units specifically for marketing purposes.

Heavy on marketing, but zero customer support. Nobody responds when you report a defect in your Gunnar spectacles.

Why are there no comments on their Facebook page? Why were all those comments removed? Have you ever seen another company do that? They disabled their ratings option immediately after my review was posted. And after I purchased my spectacles, they discontinued that listing on Amazon.in.

Be careful with companies like this. They invest heavily in marketing, but the product falls short the moment you encounter a problem.
